Representatives from Greyhound Friends of New Jersey, Inc. (GFNJ) will be at Bergen Community College, Monday, September 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the Student Center, Pitkin Education Center, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ. Greyhounds will be on hand for a meet and greet, and rescue representatives will be available to answer questions about the breed and the adoption process. Bergen Community College Assistant Professor Harold Kahn will give an informative lecture and video presentation about rescue and adoption from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Professor Kahn owns a rescued greyhound and is a member of Long Island Greyhound Transfer. This event is co-sponsored by the Bergen Community College Environmental Club, Biology Club, the Veterinary Technology Program, and the Office of Student Life. Greyhound Friends of New Jersey, Inc. is a non-profit organization which relies on funds generated through adoption, donations and fund-raising events throughout New Jersey. We will be participating in the 11th Anniversary Event of Old Bridge Day. The fair is held at the Municipal Complex on Rte 516 in Old Bridge, just off of Rte 9 or Rte 34. Parking is at the High School and Ice Arena.
We hope once again to have a corner spot with a shady, grassy area for the dogs. Old Bridge has treated us very nicely each time we have attended and they welcome the dogs.
We need petable dogs as there are alot of children in attendance. Hours are 10-4. No one needs to stay all day, just an hour or two is fine.

Come and join us every Sunday morning at 9 AM at the Merrill Creek Reservoir for a walk around Merrill Creek!!
There are lots of trails to choose from, and, GFNJ volunteer, Nancy Barnett will provide us with maps of the area, so there are different trails available for any e-bodied greyhound.
We will be meeting in the Parking Lot at the Main Entrance at 9 AM every Sunday morning. Please log on to the Merrill Creek website for directions.
We will be walking through woods and fields and there are also several watering holes for the hounds to drink and swim.
Please bring water for you and your hound and dress you and your hound appropriately. Bug spray is also recommended for this time of year.

VOLUNTEERS ARE EXPECTED TO DRESS IN MEDIEVAL GARB (event rules)
This annual event is sponsored by the City of New York Parks and Recreation and the Washington Heights and Inwood Development Corporation (a not-for-profit organization). This is the festival’s 22nd year!
Admission is free.
The festival is a unique chance to experience the medieval period in the most authentic setting this side of the Atlantic. The area around the Cloisters Museum in Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market village where knights in armor, jugglers, jesters, magicians, musicians, storytellers, and puppeteers will perform. A blacksmith, manuscript illuminator, pottery decorator, wood carver and other artisans will demonstrate their crafts. Performers and fairgoers dress in historical costumes. Medieval food is available and craft items will be sold. The afternoon culminates with a jousting event between knights on horseback!

Save the Animals Foundation is holding a dog/human walk-a-thon on Saturday, October 21, 2006. The walk is being held at Fasola Park on Delsea Drive in Deptford, NJ. Registration begins at 8am. A registration fee of $10 applies to each human walker - dogs are free.
Besides the walk, a blessing of the animals with be held and on site micro chipping ($30) by the AWA. Contests will also be held for: best Halloween costume, owner-pet look alike, ugliest dog, prettiest dog, most talented dog, and doggie dash.

We will be walking through woods and fields and there are also several watering holes for the hounds to drink and swim.
