Calling All Passaic and Bergen County Greyhounds for the weekly Sunday Greyhound Walk.
Every Sunday, weather permitting, there's an informal Greyhound Walk around Van Saun Park in Paramus. The longest distance we walk is just under 2 miles, but it's easy to bail out at anytime if you or your pooch is pooped. And speaking of pooped... here's the details:
Bring: Something to pick up the poop.
Place: Van Saun Park Paramus. Parking Lot #5 (The Pony Rides)
Time: 9 am Sundays.

There are lots of trails to choose from, and, GFNJ volunteer, Nancy Barnett will provide us with maps of the area, so there are different trails available for any e-bodied greyhound.
We will be meeting in the Parking Lot at the Main Entrance at 10 AM every Sunday morning. Please log on to the Merrill Creek website for directions.
We will be walking through woods and fields and there are also several watering holes for the hounds to drink and swim.
Please bring water for you and your hound and dress you and your hound appropriately. Bug spray is also recommended for this time of year.

4th of July Parade, Asbury Park, NJ

GFNJ has been invited to participate in the Asbury Park 4th of July Parade.
More info to follow - we did this last year and it was lots of fun and the greys attracted a great deal of positive attention.
Anyone interested in marching should send Larry and Jeremy an email by Wednesday, July 1st (jeremyandlarry@gmail.com) with a phone number and the dogs they're bringing.
Everyone is invited to meet at Larry & Jeremy's house (1120 Second Avenue, Asbury Park)between 11 and 11:30am.
This way, everyone will have an opportunity to park, sort out what they're bringing, get ice, etc.
At 12 noon, we will carpool over to our lineup place. We will be lining up at the corner of Cookman Avenue and Grand Avenue at the park on the corner (this location is great because the park has trees and grass!)
The Parade will go down Cookman, up Main Street, and up 5th Avenue to Convention Hall (same as last year).
We strongly advise everyone to meet us at the house rather than at the line-up, especially if they will need transportation to their car after the parade. Last year, we learned it's nearly impossible to get to the Cookman area after we've finished marching. We can, however, easily get to our house, so it will be much easier if everyone's cars were there.

Anyone coming who drives a wagon or SUV, we'd greatly appreciate if they could help with that to minimize parking headaches at the parade.
We will have an SUV following us in the parade for relief and supplies.
Marchers should come prepared with the following:
A backpack or a tote bag (something they can march with).
A small water dish to use when the parade is in still-motion to keep the dogs hydrated.
Sunscreen for themselves and their dogs.
If they have hats or visors for their dogs, they should bring them as well.
Larry and Jeremy will provide the following:
Water (both at the house and bottled form to march with).
Spray bottles to cool the dogs off.
Ice
Any necessities as needed.
Parade begins at 1pm sharp.
Must be in line by 12:15pm sharp.

A few of the events include doggie costume contest/beauty pagent, hay maze for dogs, dog swimming pool, dog wash, Christmas photos with Santa, doggie time out area, dog caricatures, and much more.
GFNJ had a table at this event last year and it was lots of fun and good attendance. Dogs MUST be “other dog” friendly, as this is a day for dogs and their owners, so many other breeds of dogs are present — both large and small.
Adult admission is $10. All proceeds collected by the event organizers go to benefit the Susan G Koman Race for the Cure.

Every Sunday, weather permitting, there's an informal Greyhound Walk around Van Saun Park in Paramus. The longest distance we walk is just under 2 miles, but it's easy to bail out at anytime if you or your pooch is pooped. And speaking of pooped... here's the details:
Bring: Something to pick up the poop.

There are lots of trails to choose from, and, GFNJ volunteer, Nancy Barnett will provide us with maps of the area, so there are different trails available for any e-bodied greyhound.
We will be meeting in the Parking Lot at the Main Entrance at 10 AM every Sunday morning. Please log on to the Merrill Creek website for directions.
We will be walking through woods and fields and there are also several watering holes for the hounds to drink and swim.
Please bring water for you and your hound and dress you and your hound appropriately. Bug spray is also recommended for this time of year.
