~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
BILLY
We lost our beloved Billy after 8 wonderful years with our dear friend. His loving personality was like a magnet. He brought so much joy to all who met him (including those who were generally not fans of dogs due to his calm and gentle demeanor). What a blessing he was to all our lives. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts. Billy is tremendously missed.
EMMY
This is Emmy. We got her from NJ greyhound friends in 2001. She was just 3. She lived until 13 1/2 and was beyond the sweetest dog ever. We still miss her everyday.
Zaida
On October 12, 2019, our beloved Zaida peacefully gained her wings and became an angel, just 3 weeks after celebrating her 12th birthday with our annual “Hot Dog” party. She came from the prison program, and literally raced into our lives, stole our hearts, and changed everything. I adopted her on July 17, 2010, and met my husband a short while later, when we had both recently fallen on hard times. In the end she rescued us, and with her greyhound ways, touched the hearts of every family member, friend, and stranger alike. Through a diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma she was an absolute warrior and a true hero. We will love her infinitely, miss her beyond measure, and never forget the quiet love in her eyes that expressed so much gratitude every day. Our baby just ran her final race and is now running like the wind through the clouds and over the rainbows.
Martha's Vineyard
Martha's Vineyard 12/25/10 - 6/12/19 (a Christmas puppy)
On 3/17/13 I went to an adoption looking to foster/adopt another older male after losing my beloved Flashy Daddy but when I got there Martha had other ideas. She was immediately by my side for the entire two hours and of course I took her home as a foster. I made it very clear that I had no intention of adopting a young female. Lol, I adopted her in May.
She was quick to learn but stairs took a lot of practice and patience. Although she never mastered getting down, she managed in her own unique way which was quite a funny site to see.
About a year after adopting her we both began to have health issues. Through 4 surgeries of my own she was always by my side and I know now that there was a bigger meaning to why she chose me on that St. Patrick's Day in 2013. I thank God everyday for bringing us together. Even through her own health issues she became well known at the middle school where I substitute teach and became the mascot. She would go over everyday after school and greet the kids during after school activities. This year she was in the yearbook's group picture with the girl's soccer team wearing their team shirt. She loved interacting with the special needs students also.
Sadly, in June, Martha went into liver failure and I had to make a decision to let her go at only 8 years old. She passed peacefully curled up in my arms. A couple of days later there was a double rainbow. Although I only had Martha for 6.5 years, I can't imagine what life would have been like without her. She was a loved member of my family and we are all heartbroken with her passing.
"Martha My Dear" (Beatles), you will never be forgotten and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Vodka Tonic
We had to say goodbye to out beloved friend and family member Vodka Tonic.
We adopted Vodka eight years ago after fostering her. She was a very sweet girl, only asking to place her head on a lap for a few minutes of petting. She loved her daily walks and running the fence line with the neighbor dog.
She will be missed by her canine brother Turbo and sister Lily and her human family, Katie, Charlene, Jim and her Aunt Chris. Love you Vod.
