~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Maggie AKA Boligee Magnolia
Maggie Smolar (AKA Boligee Magnolia)
June 24, 1994-January 18, 2006
We brought Maggie home from a greyhound picnic, a few months after our first grey, Jake. Maggie was a "special needs" dog. She was extremely timid and needed a home with an outgoing grey. She and Jake hit it off immediately, enjoying many days in our yard playing tag and hunting "big game" together. Maggie was truly one of God's gentle creatures and we will miss her. Run free.
"Such a long, long time to be gone and short time to be there."
Bandit (Bounder) Griggs
Bounder Boy was adopted when he was about 5 years young. He looked like a bandit so that was his name. I saw him at a greyhound picnic. He was in a home and returned and in a foster home with like 8 other Dogs (God bless those folks. He was a bit pushy and distant for a while. But settled in just great. Taught him to bark when he had to go out and he learned to bark when he was hungry. He would just lay so quiet by my room and when I got up he would jump and bark to let me know it's time to go out. If I happened to yell at him he would just stop and sit and give me those sad puppy eyes. But always wanted to be by my side. Even when he was sick he still followed me everywhere. Bandit was 14.
Hampton Bob Griggs
Hampton Bob was his racing name and I have a brother named Bob so Bob it had to be. I got Bob at 2 years young fresh from the track. He learned fast where the couch was and my lap. And right into my heart. My first greyhound. My sister had one and her son has one and so I saw how great they are. Bob was so playful and yet so gentle with my niece's and nephew's. I remember so well to this day, Bob loved to play tug of war and he was so smart that my nephew wanted to do it and Bob just dropped the toy. I picked it up and it was tug of war time. I gave it to my nephew and he would not do it. Bob just love to be petted and to sit in my lap. He fought till the end and didn't want to leave us. He was so strong it amazed me. Bob was 13; he has his peace now and will always be in our hearts.
