~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Wilson
"Wilson" 2000-2006
Even though we were blessed to have Wilson in our home for only nine months, he touched our lives and hearts. His spirit will live with us in his "forever" home.
Jim, MaryAnn, and Justin Simmons
Clyde
Clyde taught me all I needed to know about responsibility, commitment and mostly unconditional love. I can't imagine life without him (always by my side) but am ever so grateful to have had him in it for over 9 years. He will be forever missed....
Sparks
In Memory of Sparks
A very good greyhound.
Her papers said her racing-name was "Makin' Sparks." She was 4 1/2 when she came, 13 when she left.
Shy, graceful, stoic and deerlike. We miss her goodness and we are very, very sad.
Brit
To my Brit (formerly known as Narrate) who I lost unexpectedly and much too soon. You quickly became my best friend. I will always remember the way you would wake me up for school with your kisses, how you were always so excited to see me when I came home, how you would run and run and run in the yard, always winning the race with yourself! I miss you very much and will always love you. XOXO Katie.
Quest
6 years ago you at Greyhound Friends gave me my best friend. He was a great listener, an exercise companion and a pillow. His brown eyes always loved me no matter what-even when I didn't feel like walking him at midnight in the snow. (which he loved more than anything) I watched him grow from a terrified spooky greyhound scared of his own shadow into a shy but curious old man who would finally in his last year take food from my hand. He was my therapy dog and my constant friend, who never asked for anything in return. He didn't like couches or beds, he didn't counter surf or give kisses or coachroach or do any of the things that greyhounds are famous for doing-but he did put his head in your lap and rub against you just so you knew he was there. Last night I had to say goodbye to my friend. I had to lay him down and allow him to go in a way in which he would never suffer again. Maybe he will wait for me somewhere, but because I'm only 23 it feels like an eternity to be without him. You gave me a chance at having a love I didn't know I could have, I had my beautiful boy for 6 years and I loved him everyday. Thank you for allowing him in to my life so long ago, you have changed both my world and his.
