~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Ruthie Sitzman
Ruthie Sitzman
(Ruth, meaning "companion" or "friend")
10/03/1999 - 10/30/2006
Once D's Sunflyer, Racer NOW MY TREASURED AND BELOVED RUE
Ruthie, Ruthie, faster than lightning. No one you see, runs faster than she. Once this dog had only shredded newspaper over stainless steel to bed on. Here she is on a Swedish memory-foam Temperpedic mattress. Friends forever Rue.
Skidrow Jake
Skidrow Jake
June 26, 1994 — February 24, 2007
Jake was our first greyhound. A tiny girl with a big heart. She welcomed 3 other greys into “her” house over the 11 years that she was with us. She and Maggie were the best of pals, until Maggie left us last year. The boys, Apache and Chico, made her young again. She loved “her” yard and “her” couch, and of course “her” bed, and crunching those chicken feet! I will always remember the day we picked her up. Barbara Wicklund helped us get her in the car, and before she closed the door, kissed Jake on the head and said, “Have a good life”. She did, and we will miss her terribly.
Tara McArdle
What Goes Tara
December 1996 — February 2007
We helped our ginger girl Tara to the bridge a week ago today — February 12th. It has taken us a week to sit down and write this. She left behind 3 other wonderful greyhounds and 5 beautiful horses that keep us busy enough to help fill the void. She is most missed when we come through the door. She was our “smiler” — big open mouthed — curled lip grin with all her teeth bared. Newcomers would mistake that exuberant grin for a big snarl — I’m sure she never understood why she was so misunderstood ! Our girls nicknamed her “Tara Gums” right from the start — and affectionately called her that always. She was our runner — she loved to run round and round in big circles — kicking up dirt and grass as she flew by. She was our sweetie and we are so blessed to have loved her.
Dugan
In memory of our beloved Dugan.
We adopted Dugan in November 2002 and had him for 4 wonderful years. He was a beautiful 6 1/2 year old (June 2000 - January 2007) brindle boy. We lost him to a tragic accident and miss him dearly every day. He brought so much joy and love to our family that the emptiness is unbearable at times. There were so many special things about you Dugan that we were blessed to have you in our lives. Will will miss you always but never forget you and some day we all will meet again.
Theo
Last night you left us. Now you’re with Zoe and Mom. Running hard, gums back, ears flat. Take as long as you want to smell the leaves. High-step in the snow without getting cold. We never knew how perfect you’d be. First we brought home one baby, then another. You never blinked. Happily we traded the sidewalks for the open spaces. You’d greet everyone with boundless enthusiasm, a smile and a shiver, Then flop down in the middle of whatever room everyone was in. Just to be near us. You will always be my “Mr. Good Dog” We love you.
