~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
 These Greyhounds have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and will be remembered fondly by their families...
“Lexy” 9/96 – 7/5/11
Sunshine Lorraine / Lexus, a/k/a “Lexy” 9/96 – 7/5/11
Today is a very sad day for us, as we had to say goodbye to our Lexy Love. Lexy came to us just before Thanksgiving in 2007 along with her housemate, Cookie. Both were bounce backs to GFNJ and were in poor health. In fact, Lexy had already lost most of her muscle mass in her hind legs, and back then we thought it only a matter of time before this poor girl wouldn’t be able to stand.
Lexy was in failing health in December, but with lots of love, attention, and care with monitored medication, we were blessed to have her with us for 6 additional months with a good quality of life. She insisted on going for brief walks up through the middle of this weekend with her pack. There was no leaving her behind, nor going it alone.
We’ve never seen such heart and spirit in a senior such as her, which is why we affectionately called her Lexy Love. She loved people, kids, her hound housemates and other dogs of any breed and size. She’d stomp and chomp her teeth for biscuits, and had a unique dance of her own when she wanted something, and a hobby-horse type of run when an intruding rabbit or bird was in the yard or when her pack initiated a running game of tag. There was no ignoring this endearing skinny girl with a heart of gold, and she ruled the roost here at home.
Lexy's passing leaves us with a broken heart, but it's been such a rewarding journey since she came to us. I say to everyone..... consider adopting a senior. Your life will be enriched in ways you'll never know.
Victory (Vanessa)
Victory (Vanessa)
July 2002 - June 2011
Victory was our very first greyhound. She was a wonderful girl who ruled the house. The first day we brought her home she claimed our other dog's bed as her own. Victory loved showing off by running laps around the other dogs at the dog park, and she would do anything for a treat. Her favorite spot was out on our porch wrapped in her favorite fleece blanket. She was corageous until the end when she sucumbbed to bone cancer. Even in her last moments she was still bright eyed and looking for a treat. We look forward to rescuing more greys in the future, but Victory was one in a million.
JESSE HOLLY
JESSE HOLLY “THE FOOF” (ROCK RAHMAN)
JULY 23, 1999 – MAY 16, 2011
Foof, the number one puppy. The best of the best. Our first Greyhound. The dog that introduced us to Greyhounds and made us fall in love with this extraordinary breed.
You have no idea how much you will be missed, our cherished friend. Your brother, sisters and foster brother miss your presence and are lost without their leader to look after them. Future foster friends won’t have the benefit of your guidance.
Our walks around the block and rides in the car will never be the same without you, our beautiful sweet boy.
We always thought that we would have you in our lives for many more years; sadly it was not meant to be. You are now with your buddies Woody, Julie and Jimme. All of you live on in our hearts.
MOM, DAD AND JOSH HOLLY
To my Che Mar Lil Angel
Such a sweet, sweet spirit, you will live in my heart forever. And someday you and I and your brother Joey will run in green fields together again. We love you and miss you so much.
Jane
