About Hay Seed

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Red Fawn and White

WW's Hay Seed is a very handsome boy (please excuse the marks on his nose which is a little rubbing from the muzzle).  Hay Seed is a happy and friendly boy who loves to snuggle. He's very interactive and likes to lean up against the person next to him. He is a pleasant boy who is one of those big "mooshie" boys that we love.  He and his brother, WW's Hay Baler were favorites of their trainer. The trainer described him as "mushy and a luvy".   Hay Seed is 4 years old and cat tolerant with supervision.

WW Hayseed - Foster Update 5/28
We’ve been calling Hayseed “Hayden” — which seems more fitting and appropriate for such a handsome boy. He has become better on his leash and is doing less counter surfing. He wants to be where you are and gives and gets hugs like the cuddly lover that he is. In the beginning of his time in our foster home, he was good with our cats. Over time, however, he has become more and more keen on our cats where supervising, alone, can be overridden by his prey drive. That said, we no longer recommend that he be adopted into a home with cats or small animals. And, while Hayden may be a little too interested in cats, he is still a hugger that truly enjoys belly rubs, head scratchings, and kisses. He is very much a happy-go-little spirit that demonstrates how grateful he is to be with people who love him back.

WW HAY SEED

This boy loves life!  Hay is a happy hound––and his happiness is contagious. Born August 9, 2011, he still has the zest of a youngster with the take-in-in-stride maturity of an adult. With 97 races under his belt and the character-exuding scars that he’s earned, Hay has embraced retirement.

  Here’s what
you need to know about Hay:

  • Very affectionate.
  • Good with our 4 cats, generally ignoring them
  • Good with our dog-friendly kids, ages 10 and 14
  • Eats well and has not shown signs of food aggression
  • No signs of space aggression.
  • Travels well in the car
  • Crates well while we are at work
  • Takes direction and corrections well
  • Mastered the stairs
  • Mastered our wood, tile, and laminate flooring
  • Sleeps though the night on a dog bed next to our bed

Hay Seed is working on his leash-walking skills. In the beginning, he tended to pull. He has improved tremendously and continues to make strides.

Hay is a lover and looks forward to pettings and hugs. He has a lot of energy (as far as “energy” goes for a greyhound, that is) and truly enjoys playing in our backyard. Toys and plenty of playtime in the yard (or long walks) are a must for him as this boy loves fresh air.

He is a “greyt” ambassador for greyhounds everywhere because he is so personable and confident. We feel he would do well as an only dog or with another dog. if with another dog, his level of confidence indicates that an alpha role with another dog or dogs is the position he’d want to be in. That said, he knows his place in our pack (the people, including our kids, are in charge and he is below us in the hierarchy).

By welcoming Hay Seed into your life, you will be getting a devoted friend who will dedicate himself to you. He will look to you for direction, hugs, and love, returning that love tenfold. And he will keep you smiling for the rest of his days.
