Slap Shot was recently relinquished through no fault of his own--the match just didn't work out for the family or for Slap Shot. He is back with his foster family and doing great.
Foster update 12/18/15:
After a brief adoption into a family who adored him but it just wasn't the best fit, Slap Shot is back in his foster home and has settled right in. It's a pleasure to welcome him back.
Slap Shot has a sweet and mellow personality and has adapted well to life in our family. He enjoys meeting new people and other dogs, and is friendly toward our cat. It's fun to watch him going confidently up and down the stairs as he follows me around the house. Going for walks is a big occasion for him, as he enthusiastically checks out birds, squirrels and holiday lawn ornaments. He has perfect leash manners and never pulls. He also loves riding in the car and readily jumps into the backseat.
One of Slap Shot's favorite things is being brushed, and he will stand next to you (doing the greyhound lean, of course) for as long as you'll do it. He's very affectionate and loves being petted, whether standing in front of you with his head in your lap, or lying on his back with all four legs in the air, ready for a tummy rub. He's not at all demanding, though, and knows how to chill when you have other things to do.
Slap Shot crates well, shows no signs of separation anxiety when we go out, and stays quietly in his crate all night. He is completely house trained and stands by the door when he wants to go out. He has never marked in the house, or outside either. He seems comfortable being the only dog in the household.
I'm teaching him a few commands - and he's a quick study! He has learned to back up and wait (for meals, treats, going through doors), knows what "leave it" means, and a few other things. He will stay out of the kitchen when asked and lies quietly in the hall instead.
I could go on, but you'll just have to meet Slap Shot and see for yourself what a great dog he is!

KB's Slap Shot is a gorgeous, perfect gentleman. He's affectionate but not overbearing. He looks to you for directions. He seems to be an "old soul" who is wise beyond his years. This boy is one of those "mooshie" boys that we all love. He's very friendly and just a sweet boy. Slap Shot is 4 years old and cat tolerant with supervision.
