Pocket Knife whose racing call name is "Sarge" is a gorgeous and stately boy. He's slightly reserved in new situations. The folks in Florida who worked with Sarge described him as "gentle and loving and that if you give him a chance to approach and to get to know you, he will be fine, happy and be your best friend." He walks well on leash. Sarge is 2 years old and cat tolerant with supervision.
Foster Update 9/1/2015
Sarge (racing name Pocket Knife) is a special greyhound. Born June 1, 2013, this calm two-year-old is quite mellow, especially for a youngster. He is stunning and boasts a long, fluffy tail (so cute!) with a white tip at the end. He's doing a great job in his foster home - the perfect house guest. Here's his foster assessment:
- Great with our cats; he generally ignores them and has deferred to them as alphas.
- Gentle with our kids, two boys ages 10 and 14.
- Gets along with our two greyhounds; one is an active goofball (age 7), the other a low-key sophisticate (age 11), so he gets along with both types.
- No accidents in the house.
- Walks well on a leash.
- Is very laid back and peaceful.
- Has mastered going up and down stairs and walking on our wood/tile/laminate floors.
- Eats well.
- Sleeps through the night on a dog bed next to our bed.
Sarge can be timid at first, but he is always willing to brave new things, allowing his curiosity to push him forward. He loves to cautiously explore. He learns very quickly and has warmed up to his foster family. He is quite submissive and will do well with an adopter who will be his leader. He looks to us and our dogs for queues on how to be behave and follows right along. His transition from track to home has been a smooth one and we are very proud of him.
Sarge is an exceptionally loving boy; he loves to give and get affection and focuses on pleasing. He has a warm presence to him and will bring his charm, grace, and calming spirit to the home who welcomes him. For the rest of his life, Sarge will bring pure love and adoration to his adopter. What a beautiful way to live.
