Boris--What a sweet little boy. He is the sibling to KB's Conway Joe. Boris lacks some confidence but he is not overly shy and he warms up and does best with another greyhound. He is young and will only be 2 years old in August. When he gets to know you, his tail wags and he easily makes eye contact. Boris is cat tolerant with supervision.
Foster update 7/29/2015
Boris is an exceptional hound - all in a (relatively) tiny greyhound package (he's on the small side for a male). Born August 1, 2013, Boris has fully endeared himself to our home:
- No accidents in the house.
- Sleeps through the night on a dog bed next to our bed.
- (Just about fully) mastered the stairs.
- Wants nothing (absolutely nothing) to do with our cats. (That's a good thing. The felines are offended, but will get over it.)
- Does well with our dog-friendly kids, two boys ages 10 and 14.
- Does well with our greyhounds; one is a debonair sophisticate, the other a bit of a goofball (we love them both). He takes cues from our hounds and is highly intelligent, learning very quickly the busy routine of our home.
- Is very affectionate. He loves to be petted and massaged. Boris is truly a mushy boy who totally digs giving and getting affection.
- Is crated while we are at work - does well in the crate. In fact, when we're home, the crate is open. Sometimes, he'll snooze in it as his leisure. Other times, he can be found lounging on any given dog bed.
- Has shown no space or food aggression. He's pretty laid back and goes with the flow.
- Is eager to please (see above: learns quickly).
- Likes car rides.
- Overall, a happy, relaxed hound.
Since he is young, Boris possesses a sense of naive curiosity - it's very cute. He likes to explore our yard and home, discovering new and interesting things (especially in the garden). He isn't an alpha, so he is happy to follow our dogs and us. At first, he can seem shy as he takes in new people and places, soaking it all in. He warmed up to his foster family in only a couple of hours (sans those evil cats) and has placed complete trust in us. He enjoys going for walks and exploring the neighborhood. In just a short time, he has truly come into his own, showing us his warm, welcoming heart and dedicated desire to be part of the pack (which he is).
Because Boris has such a sweet soul, the lucky adopter who welcomes him as part of the home will experience Boris' profound love, trust, and loyalty. Boris will give all three and more for the rest of his beautiful life. He is truly a living gift.
