Wild Mandalena is a very pretty and striking girl. She's very friendly, gives kisses and loves to be petted. She seems eager to please and takes direction well. Mandalena walks nicely on leash. She was described by the folks in Florida as "very outgoing"--we agree--she's a happy, interactive girl. Mandalena will be 2 years old in February. She's cat tolerant with supervision.
Foster Update 1/21/2015
Oh Mandi you came and you gave without taking! And, this girl (racing name Wild Mandalena) has a lot to give!
Since arriving at our house four short days ago, Mandi is settling in easily. The household consists of me (her foster mom), my husband, a three year old Greyhound, a cat, a cockatiel and a finch. Upon arrival, she visited the birdcages a few times but that’s it—they just don’t seem to interest her. Mandi’s playful exuberance needs to be controlled when the cat is nearby—while she is cat-friendly she needs to be redirected and does respond appropriately when corrected.
Mandi immediately got on board with our household routine: pottying on schedule and sleeping through the night without a peep! She crates nicely during the day when I am at work. (I admit, I have a spy camera on her and can see first-hand that she is very peaceful in her crate—no restlessness or crying—just one big snooze-fest!) At lunchtime she gets a potty, walk and companionship break and then re-crates easily for the afternoon.
Mandi enjoys independent play and playing with my Greyhound, Gigi. She loves toys. She does know how to share nicely. If Gigi wants a toy that Mandi has, she lets Gigi take it while play bowing to show that she is ready for fun. She will then get another toy to tempt Gigi.
Mandi has an outgoing personality and loves to meet people—when new people visit she greets them at the door as if she has known them all her life! She loves going for walks and walks nicely on a leash. She is the perfect walking partner. When on neighborhood walks she happily greets new people and welcomes being petted. And, those that pet her remark at her soft, silky fur. A win-win!
Mandi loves treats (although does not seem to care for Milkbones) and takes them nicely from your hand.
Mandi can manage going up and down a couple stairs. She is working on mastering a full flight of stairs. She is fine with wood floors and tile.
Mandi is playful, fun spirited, social, affectionate, friendly and sweet. She really is the WHOLE PACKAGE and would make a greyt first Greyhound or a delightful addition to a current pack."
