Go Bon Pure Silk "Silk" is a stunning little girl. She just completed a semester at Becker College in Leicester,Massachusetts as a cherished friend and valued "teaching animal" for select students in the Animal Studies program working one-on-one with a student trainer for the entire semester. The students learn to train the dogs using clicker training. Their student trainers build the greyhounds' confidence and learn to train while instilling the greys with a skill set that will aid them in their new challenge of "life as a pet." The dogs also have the opportunity to work with the students in a "home setting".
Silk was described by her student trainer as "a 'quiet observer' Silk is a petite brindle female and has been a cooperative, quiet and cheery little addition to our kennel. She has an adorable sideways ear that makes her look a little “windswept” when she puts them both up! When her ear is resting in a rosebud position, it bends forward and we often joke that it was sewed on backwards at the Little Greyhound Factory. J In the kennel, she is also usually very quiet and only really barks for breakfast - her kennel is right in front of the food prep area, and she gets excited as she watches us make everyone’s dish! Otherwise, she seems to be a creature of habit who enjoys her downtime peacefully. She usually sleeps soundly during the day but remains fully aware of the goings-on. The only time we have heard Silk bark is when she first arrived at our kennel and barked/growled at her neighbors before eating to establish her boundaries. As she adjusted to her new environment and realized that she did not need to defend her space, the grumbling disappeared and we have not seen it since. Silk has been a model guest - she is neat in her kennel, friendly with all of the students and generally pretty "low-maintenance." While she doesn't ask for much, she certainly appreciates all of the love and attention she gets from the people that know her best. She is a sweet girl who just doesn't miss a beat! "
Silk is 3 years old and cat tolerant with supervision. This little girl is in a foster home.
12/20/13 -Foster Update:
Silk has been with us a short time but is settling in very well. Her easy-going nature has made her transition simple, sleeping in our room from the first night along with our 4 greys and 3 cats. Silk has a great appetite and shows no signs of food aggression, walks beautifully on leash and enjoys meeting new people, leaning in for pets without being pushy. This very pretty little girl enjoys her grooming and has already selected her favorite toys (so far). A real people loving dog, I'm sure she would be a great fit for most any home.
