Els Wirth is one striking boy. He's very friendly and was happy to meet everyone. He used our legs to lean and was eager to make friends. He's interactive and looked directly into our eyes in an appealing way. Els Wirth is 3 years old and although he likes people, no cats, please.

Foster update, August 23rd, 2011: 

 Els Wirth is a sweet, peppy, and silly boy.  He is very happy-go-lucky and
is really adjusting well to retired home life.  He is so at ease being
handled - Els Wirth thinks any 'care' is spa treatment.  He looks forward to
his "Tootsie-Time" corn treatment for his front paws which he welcomes as a
pedicure and massage, getting lulled off to sleep.  Ear cleanings and teeth
brushings are 'feel goods' for him and bath time with a hose was a
refreshing massage rubdown treat.

 Els Wirth is best described as a 'class clown'.  His handlers in the prison
program described him as a goofball, which is immediately eminent.  He knows
how to walk well on a leash, and does for the most part; however, he does
still occasionally get perked up by new things, which require a little extra
leash discipline.

 Els Wirth is a very smart and independent boy.  He learns commands very
quickly.  He knows more than he may let on because he 'goofs off', but once
his Foster Mommy sets boundaries to let him know when it is OK to play, he
adapts very quickly. 

 Els Wirth shares his foster home with two foster siblings.  He is neither
alpha nor the underdog, and does not seem to care about his status.  He is
just happy go lucky.  He loves his TLC but doesn't get needy requiring it.
He likes it in many forms such as touch, attention, or goofing around with
him.  He has access to lots of toys, but doesn't seem motivated by toys,
just interaction with people.  Els Wirth gets along well with young
children.

 Els Wirth is a greyt 'one of the boys' kind of dog - truly a man's best
friend.
