SWEET, LITTLE BOY

About B's Dark Lashes

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Brindle
Unfortunaely B's Dark Lashes whose name is Leo is back with GFNJ due to the passing of his adopter.  He is in a foster home and here is what his foster mom has to say about this sweet boy:

"Leo is a 6 year old dark brindle boy with a racing name of B’s Dark Lashes.  He is a sweet boy who loves to have his ears scratched in the morning and his belly rubbed showing off the heart shaped mark there.  He walks well on a leash, enjoys the company of other greys and also doesn’t mind being alone. Leo loves to sit outside any time of year and I am sure would once again appreciate a fenced in yard I which to lounge.

He has never had an accident, is not interested in squirrels, small dogs or my feral cat. He also enjoys snuggling on the bed."

B's Dark Lashes was retuned in June, 2011 through absolutely no fault of his own.  Thank goodness we were able to put him into another great foster home where he is thriving and loving life again.  Take a look at the most recent foster report--sounds like a great boy to me!! This boy who we all think is just great, needs a break and THE family who is going to love him.
Foster Update 7/12/2011
B's Dark Lashes, aka Leo, is a very loving boy.  He came to me as a foster a few weeks ago.  After having his teeth cleaned, and getting relief for some corns on his pads, he is enjoying life and the company of my 3 greyhounds.  I work during the day, and Leo has been absolutely fine.  He's perfectly house trained, has wonderful manners, seeks affection, but not in a pushy way, and enjoys the freedom of the house with the other dogs during the day.  Leo likes to give kisses too. He enjoys mealtime, has no food aggression or sleep aggression issues, and is a perfect, all around boy.  He's not too big, and his beautiful brindle coat shines.  Because of his corns, he doesn't enjoy walks outside the yard.  So a fenced yard with plenty of soft grass is a must for Leo.  Loud, sudden noises do scare him, so a quieter household would be ideal.  If you have the criteria described above, won't you consider this lovely dog?  He is patiently waiting for his forever home.

Update Jan. 2011
Jan, 2011-   Through no fault of his own, 3 year old Sammy was recently returned.  He was left alone for long periods of time and his owner felt he deserved better. After fostering Sammy over the Summer, I am glad to welcome him back into my home again!   We think Sammy is a calm, “go with the flow”  SWEETHEART! Outside, he walks PERFECTLY on leash and we enjoy watching his big ears go UP! He is tolerant with kids, all size dogs we have encountered and ignores our 3 cats completely.  Our other greyhound foster “ Maddy’s Lightning” likes to cuddle with Sammy on the same bed and Sammy welcomes it.
His previous owner states -He was wonderful. He slept on the bed with me and was gentle with other dogs at the park. He loved to run and play with them and It made his day. Inside he was calm, sweet and slept all day. He liked his occasional toys and did not destroy them.    Can you give Sammy the time and love he deserves?

B's Dark Lashes is a gorgeous little boy at only about 62 pounds. He is friendly, calm, sweet and walks great on leash. What a sweet boy he is --one of our favorites. He is 3 years old and cat tolerant with supervision.
B's Dark Lashes- Sep 1, 2010
I began fostering B's Dark Lashes only 5 days ago. We are calling "Sam" or "Sammy"
The personality for a greyhound in a new home is usually ever changing  for the first couple weeks. So far, its safe to say Sammy is adjusting WELL! We adore him! He has the CUTEST face that will just make you smile. Sam lives in a town home with 2 other greyhounds,2 adults and 3 cats.
Inside the House-
He  shows absolutely no interested in the cats even as my cats nuzzle up through his legs. I wouldn't be surprised if he soon became best friends with ours. Sam  has not made one peep while crating him to head out for errands or feeding time. He spent most of the first 2 days here sleeping in his crate (even with the crate door open) I guess he felt comfort there as he adjusted to the "where the heck am I?" stage. He allows us to lay on his dog bed with him, give him kisses and pet his ears and belly. Sammy even started to paw us as if to say "more! more!" if we stopped petting him too soon. CUTE! He is unsure of what to actually do with squeaky toys (it's only a matter of time) but did discover the joys of a frozen peanut butter Kong and loved it!  Overall, he is a  nice, gentle boy that would make a great new family member. We love him!
Outside-
We walk through our neighborhood and he is great walking on the leash in quiet areas. Very friendly with other dogs and allows strangers to greet him. Sammy is a pretty friendly guy but slightly reserved and timid with certain things. He is a little timid of cars, trucks, loud noises or anything NEW. (To be expected given this is ALL new to him) His ears go up a lot, as he takes it all in. Each day, I expose him to something new. Today we are going for a car ride to the pet store.  For now, I think a quiet area to walk or a fenced in yard would be best for Sammy. Another dog or cat to keep him company is preferable if you work full-time away from home.
Can you give Sammy a forever home?
