About Smartie Smart

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Brindle

Smartie Smart is a very pretty little girl. She is quiet and affectionate and is not really reserved but rather unassuming and an observer. She is just a sweetheart and all of the volunteers loved her sweet personality. She will make a great companion and may do best with another greyhound. We were told by the caregivers in Florida that she smiles and we saw a little of her grin today--I'm sure there is more to come. Smartie is 3 years old. She was workable to tolerant with the cat as she was interested but easily directed and corrected away from the cat.

Foster Update 1/13/2020 after only 1 night in the foster home--more to follow:

Smartie is doing really well. She is such a sweet dog. She is curious about her new surroundings but settling in very nicely. She has a healthy appetite and is getting along with Pilot wonderfully.

Last night she slept on the dog bed next to our bed and didn't make a sound. The city does not seem to bother her at all

and she likes the park. We ran into a neighbor this morning who has a high energy small dog and she was not aggressive at all. She is warm and loving and is going to make a great companion

 Foster Update 1/20/2020

She is coming along really well. I believe she will be ready to stay out of her crate soon. When I take her out of her crate she stands there and lets me put on her coat.

She has a very sweet, kind personality. She enjoys being outside. She just stands there taking in the sights, sounds, and smells.

She walks great on the leash. We came across a squirrel this morning and she just stood there and watched. She does not pull on her leash.

She is very smart and learns quickly. She will be a great companion.
