Jaxon is a sweet 6-year-old Galgo who is initially a little reserved around people. He is very mellow and likes a nice soft bed to sleep on, not pushy for attention. He is housebroken and walks nicely on a harness lead although he gets very excited when he sees other dogs he doesn't know(barking). Jaxon is a good eater and although he could use a few pounds, he doesn't eat his food too quickly. A Galgo is a Spanish greyhound.
Considering Jaxon has only been in this country for a week, he has settled in nicely and will make a great companion. Cat testing to be determined.
Jaxon was rescued by Galgos DelSol (GDS) in Spain from another rescue group that disbanded. GDS had him for about 6 months before he arrived in the states. He is tattooed which usually indicates that he was a favorite of his galguero (hunter owner) and was probably surrendered to the rescue rather than being abandoned on the streets.
Requirements and information to adopt
Galgos are a different breed from racing greyhounds. They were mostly used for hunting and are "streetwise" and like to be occupied
**They can jump and climb and we do require a minimum of a 6-foot fence for any Galgo that we adopt or walk on a leash.
They are generally very sweet and very cute.
They usually enjoy the company of another greyhound or dog.
The adoption fee to adopt a Galgo from GFNJ is $500 which only partially defrays the cost of transportation and vetting expenses.

Jazon is fully vetted and has been tested negative for Leishmaniosis.
