About Josh

  • Species: Dog

Josh was recently relinquished from a family where he lived peacefully with Ellie for about 8 months. He is in a foster home with greyhounds and is reported to be a perfect houseguest. Please contact Linda Lyman at 732-356-4370 if you are interested in Josh and submit an on-line application.

Foster Update 1/6/2020
Foster josh is a very goog boy. He sleeps through the night, takes treats gently, not one accident in the house.  He gets along great with my pack and is starting to snuggle up on us and it's only day 2! He's a bit shy at first but is gaining trust quickly.  Food-motivated but not a counter surfer.  He climbs stairs like a pro and is the happiest in the car, jumps up no problem and lays down immediately.  Josh loves anything soft, he will lay on it immediately.  He will be a perfect addition to anyone's home. He would do best with another dog.

Josh is a little boy who was rescued by Plush Bear and Candy Cane Rescue from the meat trade in China. We are so fortunate to be able to bring this sweet boy to the safety of our GFNJ family. Josh is a little reserved at first but is sweet and just needs a little TLC--everything is so new and strange to him. Josh is 2 years old and cat tolerant with supervision. The adoption fee to adopt Josh is $500 due to the high cost of bringing the China dogs to the USA.  We are happy to be able to save this sweet boy along with the other 4 dogs from China.
Foster Update 3/30/2019
Hi – My name is Josh.  Greyhound Friends will get 5 dogs from China in May.  I arrived with the first group in January – and boy am I glad they rescued us!  Life is really great in the ol’ USA.  I’ve learned a lot and have included some pictures of my life then and now.  English is easy to pick up (“no” is pretty much the same in any language.)  I’ve learned that going to the bathroom is really much nicer outside and that the cat’s food is on the counter for a reason and is accessible by invitation only.  I’m currently living with another greyhound (sweet old thing without a tooth in her head), a small, annoying but funny greyhound wannabe, and a cat, who I sometimes forget is tougher than I am.  She reminds me and we get along pretty well.  I’ve learned the “brindle puzzle” and if you’re on the sofa - leave room for me!

My foster people are nice but I’m looking for a little more active home.  I’m a quiet guy and am still cautious about new things, but I’m only 2 years-old and ready for my forever family. I think I’d like to take more walks and I’m strong so I could go the distance.  Walks are so interesting and I like to go nice and slow so I can investigate each smell.  I’m crate trained, housebroken, and as quiet as can be.  I’d also like to live with other dogs - but they don’t have to be greyhounds.

Please call Linda Lyman if you think I might fit into your pack and thanks for helping all of us.

Foster Update 2/14/2019--Happy Valentine's Day

He is so nice - more low key and so pleasant, rather than shy.  He gets along well with the dogs and while still curious about the cat is easily distracted.  He is most excited when we get up in the morning, bowing and thumping to play.  He loves being in the yard and only runs crazily when he's headed back in the house.  He still seems oblivious to his name but is engaged when spoken to or corrected, and wants to share couches and chairs with us and the other dogs.
