About Jake

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Light Brindle

Little Marco whose call name at the track is Jake is a very handsome boy with beautiful markings. He is slightly reserved at first but he warms up and will seek affection and attention. He looks to people around him for direction. He has a calm disposition and watches everything around him. He has such a sweet, gentle face that just draws you in. He would benefit by not being left alone for long periods of time and have a person or dog around at least sometime to keep him company and to guide him. This sweet, sweet boy will develop into a great companion. He is 2 years old and cat tolerant with supervision.
Foster Update 7/26/2018

Little Marco, called “Jake, was born February 24, 2016. He’s adorable!  This brindle boy with a dark, handsome face will steal your heart. Jake is small for a male, which makes him even more endearing. He adjusted quickly to the routine of our busy family and home and has been an absolute pleasure to host. He recognizes the adults, kids and even cats in the house as alpha to him. Jake was reserved his first day with us, soaking in his new surroundings and touring the yard and house. The next day, he had his bearings and relaxed; it was like he’d been with us for years. Here’s more about Jake:

  • Quite affectionate.
  • Very calm and quiet. Although he is very young, he is Zen in his demeanor. He’s like an old soul in a young body.
  • Waits his turn … he isn’t pushy, while the 2 resident greyhounds are. Jake, on the other hand, is more of a patient gentleman.
  • Sleeps through the night.
  • Gets along with our two goofy and playful male greyhounds, ages 2 and 10. They’re also much bigger than Jake, but he is comfortable hanging out, or trotting about the fenced yard, with them.
  • Does well with our dog-friendly kids, ages 13 and 17.
  • Eats well; has shown no food aggression.
  • Has demonstrates no space aggression. Our 2-year-old greyhound has been using Jake as a pillow to lay his head on. At the same time, Jake doesn’t recognize the personal space of our dogs. So, keep in mind, if you have another dog or dogs, that Jake has been seen getting on a dog bed with another dog or walking over another sleeping dog.
  • Travels well in the car.
  • Walks beautifully on a leash.
  • Has mastered the stairs and all the wood/tile/laminate flooring in our home.
  • Will make a fantastic “ambassadog”––he is sociable.
  • Is good with our cats.
  • Wants to please his people. In fact, he seems to live for it.

If you bring Jake into your life, he’ll devote himself to you. He has a humble, lovable spirit and is an absolute gem.
