JS Bouncin Blitz whose call name is "Blitz" is a stunning boy. He is friendly, gives kisses and cuddles right into open arms or a lap. He is a curious boy who was happy to check out his new environment. Because he is a young boy, he would enjoy a fenced yard to run and play. He settles into a nice walk but he needs some direction. This handsome boy will make a great companion. He will be 2 years old in October and he is cat tolerant with supervision.
FOSTER UPATE 9/1/2018
Js Bouncin Blitz was born on October 14, 2016––he’s still a baby! He never raced, going straight into “retirement.” Blitz is a silly boy who is discovering the world around him at a good pace. He’s bright, curious and confident and has been learning about home-living by watching our resident, 10-year-old male greyhound. Here’s what you need to know about this fun boy:
- Quite affectionate.
- Sleeps through the night; he’s been choosing to sleep in our living room, though sometimes will come in our bedroom to sleep on a dog bed next to our bed.
- Does well with our dog-friendly kids, ages 13 and 17.
- Eats well; has shown no food aggression.
- Has demonstrates no space aggression.
- Travels well in the car.
- Does OK on a leash and is learning to do better.
- Has mastered the stairs and all the wood/tile/laminate flooring in our home.
- Will make a fantastic “ambassadog”––he is sociable.
- Has been ignoring our cats.
What to take into consideration:
- Blitz is still very young, so he has some energy to him. Of course, he sleeps the typical greyhound 18-20 hours. When he’s awake, he loves to play. He’ll do well with a fenced yard or about up to an hour of walking per day.
- He doesn’t have an awareness of personal space. He walks over our greyhound and other foster greyhound when they are on dog beds, without giving it another thought. This would be an issue if there’s a dog in the home that would mind this type of behavior.
- Blitz is learning not to counter surf and corrects well. He’s also learning not to jump up at us when we walk into a room and can be a bit pushy. He is enthusiastic when joyous––Blitz is one happy hound. That said, he’d do well with older kids as he may knock down or overwhelm smaller children. We also recommend a basic obedience class for him––he’d love the direction and bonding that spring from such a class.
The exciting part about adopting such a young greyhound is in watching his transformation to full adulthood. While he won’t grow any bigger, his personality and mind will mature. Everything is knew to him and it is interesting to see the world from his perspective. He will bring love and affection to the adopter who brings him home.
