About Venom

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Fawn

L Venom is a very handsome boy.  He is a little cautious at first and on the reserved side. He does like attention and affection and we could watch him getting comfortable and seeking attention from the volunteers.  He is calm and quiet and will make a great companion.  He is the sibling of our newly welcomed Doctor Strange.  He is 4 years old and cat tolerant with supervision. His sweet personality made him one of our favorites.
Foster Update 4/19/2017

L Venom was born January 26, 2013. He is a medium-sized and stunning light fawn boy with a bit of sable on the top of his head and a brindle tail. His tail, at one point, had about ¼ amputated; my educated guess is due to “happy tail” (exuberant and joyful tail wagging when said tail hits a stationary object a wee bit too hard).  For sure, Venom is a tail wagger––and his racing name is a misnomer as he could not be more loving.

Venom can be a little cautious at first. After a couple of days in our home, he warmed up to us quickly and is a true snuggle boy. He acclimated to life in our busy family very quickly, taking cues from us and our own greyhounds.

Here’s what you need to know about this oh-so-handsome greyhound:

·        He is a happy boy. And although a tail wagger, he is quite calm. There have been many times when I don’t realize he’s walked into the room because he is so unassuming and quiet.

·        Very affectionate. He absolutely loves head rubbings and pettings and having his back massaged. His fur is so soft, that one can’t help petting him.

·        Crates well while we are at work/school.

·        Listens well and wants to please. At times, it seems like he is asking our permission to proceed before doing something, like choosing a dog bed to sleep on.

·        Gets along with our two male greyhounds (a goofy 8-year-old and a 13-year-old elder statesman). He also gets along well with our 2-year-old happy-go-lucky female greyhound foster.

·        Does well with our dog-friendly kids, ages 11 and 15.

·        Knows the stairs and is adept at walking on our wood/tile/laminate flooring (the stairs are carpeted).

·        Eats well; has shown no food aggression.

·        Has shown no space aggression.

·        Travels well in the car.

·        Sleeps soundly and all night on a dog bed next to our bed.

·        Is a gentleman on a leash.

·        Will make a fantastic “ambassadog” for greyhound adoption as she has good manners and is happy to meet people.

·        Has not had any accidents in the house.
·        Has been completely ignoring our 3 nutty cats and 1 kitten.

We adore Venom. He has a quiet, peaceful charm and melts our hearts with his affection and sweetness. He has a comforting presence and will warm the home that welcomes him.
