About Al's Hannah

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: White and Red Fawn

Al's Hannah--what a pretty little girl.  She's friendly and politely wags her tail when anyone pays attention to her.  She is slightly reserved in new situations but warms up easily and then is happy and interactive.  She walks well on leash.  Hannah is 2 years old and cat tolerant with supervision.
Foster Update 7/3/2015

Al's Hannah  (Hannah) is a beautiful little girl who has truly been a big hit at her foster home.  Born July 3, 2013, she has a gorgeous red and white "cow coat."  She also has glamorous dark eyes, the soulfulness of which remind us of thee late Greta Garbo.

Beyond her striking appearance, Hannah has a very sweet heart. She loves to be petted and cuddled and enjoys the company of her foster family and the resident hounds. There are two dog-frinedly children in the foster home, boys aged 10 and 13. Hannah does well with the boys, happily accepting their pettings while being gentle and mindful of their space.  Hannah's foster home also includes 4 cats.  She is curious about the cats and has been redirected from them. She has not shown aggression towards the cats; however, because is eager to play with them (and doesn't realize her size compared to them), she would do well being supervised if with cats.
 More on Hannah:

- Warm personality.
- Very calm.
- Not an alpha and looks to us and our dogs for direction.
- Learned and settled into the routine of our busy home quickly.
- Has been crated while we are at work and has done well.
- Sleeps all night, and well, on a dog bed in our bedroom.
- Eats well; has not demonstrated any food aggression.
- Has not demonstrated any space aggression.
- Has mastered the stairs and walking on wood/tile/laminate flooring.
- Rides in the car well.

Hannah can be a little shy - sometimes she is hesitant to do new things (e.g., go for a walk down a different street).  But, she feeds off of the confidence of the person walking her and walks very well when with another confident dog.  Our experience tells us that her somewhat reserved tendencies will dissipate and fade as she becomes more and more acclimated to home life. We've already seen her make strides since we began fostering her and she has made herself right at home in our house.

Hannah has taken an interest in lounging on our couch.  While our dogs are allowed on our couches, GFNJ's foster rules do not allow this. We have corrected her, but she has a stubborn streak about it and, while she'll get down when told, she gets right back up on the couch when we leave the room. If you are happy to snuggle with your hound on the couch, this is a non-issue.

Hannah is truly a lovely greyhound.  She has a warm spirit about her and has an endearing charm that instantly puts those around her at ease. She will bring a gift to the home that is lucky enough to adopt her; that gift is a lifetime of pure loyalty and love.
