About Slatex Bugles "Bugs"

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Red Brindle

Slatex Bugles whose call name at the track was "Bugs" is the cutest little girl at only about 58 pounds.  She has the cutest little face that just drew us into her charm.  Bugs is friendly and a real tail wagger.  She quiet and calm but has a playful side that will develop.  She walks well on leash.  Bugs is 3 years old and is cat workable but would be best without a cat.

Foster Update 11/27/2013

Slatex Bugles (Bugs) is a gorgeous, three year old girl.  She looks like a painting in motion with a soft, almost pastel brindle coat. Bugs is somewhat shy but has warmed up to her foster family, which includes two adults and two children (ages 8 and 12).  She walks nicely on a leash, has had no accidents in the house, sleeps well at night on a dog bed next to our bed and is crated while we are at work during the day.  Bugs has done excellent with her crate, going in with ease and remains calm when we return from work to let her out.  She has learned to climb down stairs and has near-mastered climbing up. She has also learned how to navigate wood, laminate and tile flooring.

Bugs is sharing a home with three cats, two of which are highly active.  Bugs has demonstrated curiosity for the active cats and has been easily corrected when she has made attempts to approach them. While she has not opted to chase the cats, she has attempted to walk to them. The cats in question have demonstrated no concern about Bugs.

Bugs gets along well with our two Greyhounds, generally favoring our more calm and confident boy. She looks to him for cues and mirrors his actions. For example, if there's a loud noise, she immediately focuses on him - if he is unmoved, she is unmoved. If he investigates, she investigates. If he seems worried, she worries. Bugs may do well with another Greyhound or other breed of dog that is calm and confident. She appears to take great comfort in a dog that can take the lead and seems to crave the company.

Bugs is an affectionate girl - she seeks the warmth and touch of the people and hounds in her foster home. She is a dainty lady with deep brown eyes that reach right into one's heart. Her future adopter will be charmed by her loyalty and generous soul and will have a friend who will give love and adoration for all of her life.
Foster Update 12/10/2013

Bugs has fully mastered the stairs!  She now goes up and down with ease.  Over the last week, we have not been crating her while we are at work; she has been a lady, with no accidents in the house and nothing amiss when we return home. She comes when called, has been eating well and has been very affectionate.  While somewhat shy when she first came to live with us, she is now outgoing and has settled in as a member of the pack and has been enjoying life.
